Who We Are

LearnEnglish.Life is an independent review site launched in 2024. The editorial team has spent years inside the online language-learning industry, testing platforms hands-on with real student accounts and real money. We started LearnEnglish.Life because every "best English tutor" article we could find online was either a thinly-veiled affiliate funnel or a press-release rewrite.

We cover more than 50 English learning platforms, tutors, courses and apps. Every review is signed by a named editor with verifiable teaching credentials, written from a real test account, and updated when the platform's pricing, features or teacher pool changes significantly.

Why Trust Our Reviews

• • We sign up and test. For tutoring platforms, we take free trials, book lessons with real teachers, and write down what actually happens. For apps, we complete multiple lessons across a full week.
• • We publish prices that match the checkout page. Not the marketing page. If a platform advertises "from $5" but the cheapest tutor we found was $12, we say $12.
• • Affiliate commissions do not move rankings. Some platforms pay us more than others. Our comparison positions are not for sale. Read our full affiliate disclosure.
• • We list the downsides. Every review has a "Cons" section. If you cannot find any, we have not been thorough enough.
• • We correct quickly. When a reader emails us about outdated pricing or a changed feature, we verify it and update the page the same week.

How We Review a Platform

Our reviews follow the same process every time, so you can compare platforms on equal terms. The full version is documented in our editorial standards; the short version is:

1. Create a real account using a personal email, not a press account.
2. Take the free trial or, if paid only, purchase the cheapest plan.
3. Complete at least 3 lessons or 5 app sessions across different topics and levels.
4. Note teacher quality, scheduling, UI friction, and billing traps (auto-renewal, hidden fees).
5. Cross-check user reviews on Trustpilot, Reddit, and App Store, at least 50 recent reviews per platform.
6. Publish with a final score across six dimensions: teacher quality, pricing clarity, flexibility, learning outcomes, support, and overall value.

The Team

LearnEnglish.Life is run by a small editorial team. Each person owns a desk and signs the reviews they wrote. We bring in named freelance specialists from our tutor network for IELTS Speaking band 7+, TOEFL scoring, Business English for finance, and similar niche reviews.
